My experience as an "entrepreneur"

I just could not refer to myself as an "entrepreneur" without using the quotation marks. Why? I don't know, but it's probably because I think this word is too big to apply to me. I did learn many things in the past 10 months, some that I was expecting, some surprising.

  1.  I learned to embroider!! ... and I like it. To be clear, I do not embroider by hand (I can imagine myself wearing a frilly cap and skilfully using a needle in flickering candle light :). I use a software where I implement my designs and then I transfer them to an embroidery machine.
  2. Keeping track of inventory is messy. Logic says it should not be: you buy x of an item, you embroider and ship y of that item, so you should have x-y left in your inventory. That would be too easy. I think that black hoodies (especially medium ones) like to play hide and seek with me.
  3. Social media is not for the faint of heart. Some posts "fly" and gather likes and generate visits to the store. Others are complete duds. What drives me crazy is that it is impossible to predict which is which (and it hurts when a posting I spent a lot of time on or I like does not fare too well).
  4. Keeping track of receipts, expenses, income, interest, etc is boring. Almost soul crushing boring. And I have not yet even done taxes yet!
